We are drowning in plastics… Annually 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide, that's 1 million bags every minute, but their use life is just 15 minutes, in average.
We use more than 100 million plastic bottles worldwide every day and only 1 out of 5 is recycled. An estimated 1,500 plastic bottles end up as landfill waste or thrown in the ocean every second and 480 billion bottled drinks were sold in 2016. It's estimated to increase to 583.3 billion by 2021.
More than 8 million tons of plastic are dumped in our oceans every year and by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean. Approximately 100,000 marine creatures a year die from plastic ingestion or entanglement and these are just the ones that we find.
